Plantar Fibroma
Plantar Fibroma (plantar fibromatosis) is a benign soft tissue mass generally occurring within the midarch region on the bottom of the foot. The soft tissue mass represents a thickening of the connective tissue within the plantar fascia ligament as it courses from the heel bone to the base of the toes.
Symptoms

 - Not associated with swelling or color changes of the surrounding skin
 - Slowly progressive in size with possible spreading to the midarch region.

Radiography
- X-rays not indicated
 - MRI only if abnormal clinical presentation

Treatment
- Observation without treatment
 - Padding to relieve pressure on fibroma
 - Custom orthotic to relieve pressure on fibroma
 - Serial cortisone injections to diminish size of fibroma
 - Surgical excision based on pain while walking
